Meet the Mokan Elite duo, Trae Young, and Michael Porter Jr. together they make a powerhouse. The two have previously announced they are pretty serious about making sure they end up on the same college team with each other- creating a package deal. This weekend when I asked Young what he thinks is best in helping him transition to the next level he responded, "the ability to lead my team, and communicate is something I feel I do really well."
"Keeping a tight circle and creating strong relationships with teammates" seems to be a key thing for Young to stay focused. In the college recruitment process, the pressure really gets turned on. Saturday evening when Mokan Elite took on the PSA Cards, (both teams were undefeated) even fans could get a small sense of the pressure these top prospects feel. Mohamed Bamba playing against Young and Porter made for quite an exciting game that led into overtime. Mokan fell short of the win. With those 3 being five-star recruits, all eyes were on this particular game. Dozens of NCAA coaches surrounded the court, including Coach Cal of course! Porter believes the biggest motivation for himself is to "never be content." He went on to tell me the importance of "knowing I'm not the best yet and it makes me want to push forward to get there someday."
